Serving Size and Portion Size - A Maths Problem?
According to the nutritional facts of Cadbury’s chocolate 4 squares is a serving size.
So, If you eat 40 squares of chocolate – how may servings of chocolate has you eaten? Answer – 10 servings.
Problem solved - it was not the chocolate that was the problem – but rather the amount of chocolate eaten.
A “serving size” is the amount of food listed on a products “Nutritional Facts Label”. They are the serving size the manufacturer/expert recommends you eat of their product usually stating ‘based on an average adult diet of 2000kcals”; (ie 2 biscuits; 100gms of pasta or 12 almonds).
A “portion” is the amount of food you choose to eat for meals or snacks (like a piece of chocolate, a plateful of pasta or two handfuls of nuts). A portion size is your choice and you are 100% in control of the portion you choose to eat.
